Council Decision (EU) 2022/1318 of 26 July 2022 appointing a member of the Court of Auditors THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION, Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, and in particular Article 286(5) thereof, Having regard to the proposal by the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Having regard to the opinion of the European Parliament Opinion of 23 June 2022 (not yet published in the Official Journal). , Whereas: (1) By means of Decision (EU) 2019/2173 Council Decision (EU) 2019/2173 of 16 December 2019 appointing five members of the Court of Auditors (OJ L 329, 19.12.2019, p. 94). , Mr Alex BRENNINKMEIJER was appointed as a member of the Court of Auditors for the period from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2025. (2) By letter of 3 June 2021, Mr Alex BRENNINKMEIJER presented his resignation as a member of the Court of Auditors with effect from 1 January 2022. In accordance with Article 286(5), third subparagraph, of the Treaty, he remained in office pending the appointment of his successor. (3) On 14 April 2022, Mr Alex BRENNINKMEIJER passed away. (4) A new member of the Court of Auditors should be appointed to serve for the remainder of Mr Alex BRENNINKMEIJER’s term of office. (5) The Kingdom of the Netherlands has proposed the appointment of Mr Stephanus Abraham BLOK as a member of the Court of Auditors from 1 September 2022, HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

Mr Stephanus Abraham BLOK is hereby appointed as a member of the Court of Auditors for the period from 1 September 2022 until 31 December 2025.

Article 2
