Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2023/1318 of 28 June 2023 correcting Implementing Decision (EU) 2022/1953 on greenhouse gas emissions covered by Decision No 406/2009/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council for the year 2020 for each Member State THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION, Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, Having regard to Regulation (EU) No 525/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 May 2013 on a mechanism for monitoring and reporting greenhouse gas emissions and for reporting other information at national and Union level relevant to climate change and repealing Decision No 280/2004/EC OJ L 165, 18.6.2013, p. 13. , and in particular Article 19(6) thereof, Whereas: (1) After the adoption of the Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2022/1953 Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2022/1953 of 7 October 2022 on greenhouse gas emissions covered by Decision No 406/2009/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council for the year 2020 for each Member State (OJ L 269, 17.10.2022, p. 17). , the Commission identified an error, namely the amount of greenhouse gas emissions covered by Decision of the European Parliament and of the Council No 406/2009/EC Decision No 406/2009/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 April 2009 on the effort of Member States to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions to meet the Community’s greenhouse gas emission reduction commitments up to 2020 (OJ L 140, 5.6.2009, p. 136). set out for the United Kingdom in the Annex thereof. (2) In order to ensure legal certainty, it is necessary to correct Implementing Decision (EU) 2022/1953. (3) This Decision should enter into force on the day of its publication so that the procedural steps foreseen in Articles 73b and 73g of Commission Regulation (EU) No 389/2013 Commission Regulation (EU) No 389/2013 of 2 May 2013 establishing a Union Registry pursuant to Directive 2003/87/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, Decisions No 280/2004/EC and No 406/2009/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council and repealing Commission Regulations (EU) No 920/2010 and No 1193/2011 (OJ L 122, 3.5.2013, p. 1) can be carried out before 9 September 2023, the date when the compliance period of the second commitment period of the Kyoto Protocol comes to its end, HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 2
