European Council Decision (EU) 2024/1861 of 28 June 2024 electing the President of the European Council THE EUROPEAN COUNCIL, Having regard to the Treaty on European Union, and in particular Article 15(5) thereof, Whereas: (1) On 30 November 2024, the term of office of the current President of the European Council, Mr Charles MICHEL, will come to an end. (2) A new President of the European Council should therefore be elected, HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

Mr António COSTA is hereby elected President of the European Council for the period from 1 December 2024 until 31 May 2027.

Article 2
