Council Decision (EU) 2024/2859 of 5 November 2024 appointing three alternate members, proposed by the Kingdom of Spain, of the Committee of the Regions THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION, Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, and in particular Article 305 thereof, Having regard to Council Decision (EU) 2019/852 of 21 May 2019 determining the composition of the Committee of the Regions OJ L 139, 27.5.2019, p. 13, ELI: http://data.europa.eu/eli/dec/2019/852/oj. , Having regard to the proposals of the Spanish Government, Whereas: (1) Pursuant to Article 300(3) of the Treaty, the Committee of the Regions is to consist of representatives of regional and local bodies who either hold a regional or local authority electoral mandate or are politically accountable to an elected assembly. (3) Three alternate members’ seats have become vacant following the end of the national mandates on the basis of which Ms Esther HERRANZ GARCÍA, Ms Virginia MARCO CÁRCEL and Mr Miquel ROYO VIDAL were proposed for appointment. (4) The Spanish Government has proposed the following representatives of regional bodies who are politically accountable to an elected assembly as alternate members of the Committee of the Regions for the remainder of the current term of office, which runs until 25 January 2025: Mr José Manuel CABALLERO SERRANO, Vicepresidente Segundo de la Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha (Second Vice-President of the Government of the Autonomous Community of Castile-La Mancha), Mr Jaume DUCH GUILLOT, Consejero de Unión Europea y Acción Exterior, Generalitat de Cataluña (Minister for European Union and Foreign Action, Government of Catalonia), and Mr Jesús Ángel GARRIDO MARTÍNEZ, Director-General de Fondos y Relaciones con la Unión Europea, Gobierno de La Rioja (Director-General for Funds and Relations with the European Union, Government of La Rioja),

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

The following representatives of regional bodies who are politically accountable to an elected assembly are hereby appointed as alternate members of the Committee of the Regions for the remainder of the current term of office, which runs until 25 January 2025: Mr José Manuel CABALLERO SERRANO, Vicepresidente Segundo de la Junta de Comunidades de Castilla-La Mancha (Second Vice-President of the Government of the Autonomous Community of Castile-La Mancha), Mr Jaume DUCH GUILLOT, Consejero de Unión Europea y Acción Exterior, Generalitat de Cataluña (Minister for European Union and Foreign Action, Government of Catalonia), and Mr Jesús Ángel GARRIDO MARTÍNEZ, Director-General de Fondos y Relaciones con la Unión Europea, Gobierno de La Rioja (Director-General for Funds and Relations with the European Union, Government of La Rioja).
