Political and Security Committee Decision (CFSP) 2025/1394 of 8 July 2025 on the appointment of the Head of Mission of the European Union Advisory Mission in support of Security Sector Reform in Iraq (EUAM Iraq) (EUAM Iraq/2/2025) THE POLITICAL AND SECURITY COMMITTEE, Having regard to the Treaty on European Union, and in particular Article 38, third paragraph, thereof, Having regard to Council Decision (CFSP) 2017/1869 of 16 October 2017 on the European Union Advisory Mission in support of Security Sector Reform in Iraq (EUAM Iraq) OJ L 266, 17.10.2017, p. 12, ELI: http://data.europa.eu/eli/dec/2017/1869/oj. , and in particular Article 9(1) thereof, Whereas: (1) Pursuant to Article 9(1) of Decision (CFSP) 2017/1869, the Political and Security Committee (PSC) is authorised, in accordance with Article 38, third paragraph, of the Treaty, to take the relevant decisions for the purpose of exercising the political control and strategic direction of the European Union Advisory Mission in support of Security Sector Reform in Iraq (EUAM Iraq), including the decision to appoint a Head of Mission, upon a proposal of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. (2) On 19 July 2022, the PSC adopted Decision (CFSP) 2022/1294 Political and Security Committee Decision (CFSP) 2022/1294 of 19 July 2022 on the appointment of the Head of Mission of the European Union Advisory Mission in support of Security Sector Reform in Iraq (EUAM Iraq) (EUAM Iraq/1/2022) (OJ L 196, 25.7.2022, p. 123, ELI: http://data.europa.eu/eli/dec/2022/1294/oj). , appointing Mr Anders WIBERG as Head of Mission of EUAM Iraq from 16 August 2022 to 30 April 2024. (3) On 29 April 2024, the Council adopted Decision (CFSP) 2024/1247 Council Decision (CFSP) 2024/1247 of 29 April 2024 amending Decision (CFSP) 2017/1869 on the European Union Advisory Mission in support of Security Sector Reform in Iraq (EUAM Iraq) (OJ L, 2024/1247, 30.4.2024, ELI: http://data.europa.eu/eli/dec/2024/1247/oj). amending Decision (CFSP) 2017/1869 and extending the mandate of EUAM Iraq until 30 April 2026. (4) On 30 April 2024, the PSC adopted Decision (CFSP) 2024/1308 Political and Security Committee Decision (CFSP) 2024/1308 of 30 April 2024 extending the mandate of the Head of Mission of the European Union Advisory Mission in support of Security Sector Reform in Iraq (EUAM Iraq) (EUAM Iraq/1/2024) (OJ L, 2024/1308, 13.5.2024, ELI: http://data.europa.eu/eli/dec/2024/1308/oj). , extending the mandate of Mr Anders WIBERG as Head of Mission of EUAM Iraq from 1 May 2024 to 30 April 2025. (5) On 8 April 2025, the PSC adopted Decision (CFSP) 2025/707 Political and Security Committee Decision (CFSP) 2025/707 of 8 April 2025 extending the mandate of the Head of Mission of the European Union Advisory Mission in support of Security Sector Reform in Iraq (EUAM Iraq) (EUAM Iraq/1/2025) (OJ L, 2025/707, 11.4.2025, ELI: http://data.europa.eu/eli/dec/2025/707/oj). , extending the mandate of Mr Anders WIBERG as Head of Mission of EUAM Iraq from 1 May 2025 to 15 August 2025.

(6) On 25 June 2025, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy proposed the appointment of Mr Ralf SCHRÖDER as Head of Mission of EUAM Iraq from 16 August 2025 to 30 April 2026. (7) A decision on the appointment of Mr Ralf SCHRÖDER as Head of Mission of EUAM Iraq from 16 August 2025 to 30 April 2026 should therefore be taken, HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

Mr Ralf SCHRÖDER is appointed as Head of Mission of the European Union Advisory Mission in support of Security Sector Reform in Iraq (EUAM Iraq) from 16 August 2025 to 30 April 2026.

Article 2
