Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2025/1719 of 28 May 2025 amending Regulation (EU) 2019/1241 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards geographic coordinates in Annexes VII and XIII thereto THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION, Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, Having regard to Regulation (EU) 2019/1241 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 June 2019 on the conservation of fisheries resources and the protection of marine ecosystems through technical measures, amending Council Regulations (EC) No 1967/2006, (EC) No 1224/2009 and Regulations (EU) No 1380/2013, (EU) 2016/1139, (EU) 2018/973, (EU) 2019/472 and (EU) 2019/1022 of the European Parliament and of the Council, and repealing Council Regulations (EC) No 894/97, (EC) No 850/98, (EC) No 2549/2000, (EC) No 254/2002, (EC) No 812/2004 and (EC) No 2187/2005 OJ L 198, 25.07.2019, p. 105, ELI: http://data.europa.eu/eli/reg/2019/1241/oj. , and in particular Article 15(2) thereof, Whereas: (1) Regulation (EU) 2019/1241 lays down technical measures for the conservation of fisheries resources and the protection of marine ecosystems. More particularly, it sets out in Annex VII thereto the technical measures established at regional level for the South Western Waters, while Annex XIII thereto sets out mitigation measures to reduce incidental catches of sensitive species. (2) Regulation (EU) 2019/1241 was amended by Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2023/56 Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2023/56 of 19 July 2022 amending Regulation (EU) 2019/1241 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards specific technical measures for red seabream (Pagellus bogaraveo) in ICES subareas 6 to 8 (OJ L 5, 6.1.2023, p. 1, ELI: http://data.europa.eu/eli/reg_del/2023/56/oj). and further updated by Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2024/3204 Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2024/3204 of 11 October 2024 amending Regulation (EU) 2019/1241 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards short-necked clam and red seabream (OJ L, 2024/3204, 31.12.2024, ELI: http://data.europa.eu/eli/reg_del/2024/3204/oj). . Delegated Regulation (EU) 2023/56 established several time-area closures in the South-Western Waters. That Delegated Regulation followed a joint recommendation submitted by Belgium, Spain, France, the Netherlands and Portugal, the South-Western Waters Member States, in March 2021. That joint recommendation detailed the geographic coordinates of the areas where the measures should apply. (3) The South-Western Waters Member States informed the Commission about errors in the geographic coordinates of the areas in the western part of the Cantabrian Sea, opposite to Asturias and Galicia, and requested their correction. The errors appear in all official language versions of the text, and Annex VII to Regulation (EU) 2019/1241 should be corrected accordingly. (4) Regulation (EU) 2019/1241 was amended by Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/303
Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/303 of 15 December 2021 amending Regulation (EU) 2019/1241 as regards measures to reduce incidental catches of the resident population of the Baltic Proper harbour porpoise (Phocoena phocoena) in the Baltic Sea (OJ L 46, 25.2.2022, p. 67, http://data.europa.eu/eli/reg_del/2022/303/oj). , and following those amendments it established area closures and fishing restrictions in a number of areas in the Baltic Sea to reduce incidental catches of the Baltic Proper harbour porpoise (Phocoena phocoena). That Delegated Regulation followed two joint recommendations submitted by Denmark, Germany, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Finland and Sweden, the Baltic Sea Member States (BALTFISH), in December 2020 and in September 2021, respectively. Those joint recommendations detailed the geographic coordinates of the areas where the measures should apply. (5) BALTFISH informed the Commission about errors in the geographic coordinates of the sites Adlergrund and Northern Midsea Bank and requested their correction. The errors appear in all official language versions of the text, and Annex XIII to Regulation (EU) 2019/1241 should be corrected accordingly. (6) Regulation (EU) 2019/1241 should be amended accordingly, HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION:
Article 1
Annexes VII and XIII to Regulation (EU) 2019/1241 are amended in accordance with the Annex to this Regulation.
Article 2
This Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
