Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/729 of 19 March 2026 approving a Union amendment to the product specification of the geographical indication Marc de Champagne / Eau-de-vie de marc de Champagne pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2024/1143 of the European Parliament and of the Council THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION, Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, Having regard to Regulation (EU) 2024/1143 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 11 April 2024 on geographical indications for wine, spirit drinks and agricultural products, as well as traditional specialities guaranteed and optional quality terms for agricultural products, amending Regulations (EU) No 1308/2013, (EU) 2019/787 and (EU) 2019/1753 and repealing Regulation (EU) No 1151/2012 OJ L, 2024/1143, 23.4.2024, ELI: http://data.europa.eu/eli/reg/2024/1143/oj. , and in particular Article 21(2) thereof, Whereas: (1) Pursuant to Articles 24 and 31 of Regulation (EU) 2019/787 of the European Parliament and of the Council Regulation (EU) 2019/787 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 April 2019 on the definition, description, presentation and labelling of spirit drinks, the use of the names of spirit drinks in the presentation and labelling of other foodstuffs, the protection of geographical indications for spirit drinks, the use of ethyl alcohol and distillates of agricultural origin in alcoholic beverages, and repealing Regulation (EC) No 110/2008 (OJ L 130, 17.5.2019, p. 1, ELI: http://data.europa.eu/eli/reg/2019/787/oj). , France’s application for approval of a Union amendment to the product specification of the geographical indication Marc de Champagne / Eau-de-vie de marc de Champagne, which the Commission had received before the date of entry into force of Regulation (EU) 2024/1143, was published in the Official Journal of the European Union OJ C, C/2025/6666, 11.12.2025, ELI: http://data.europa.eu/eli/C/2025/6666/oj. . (2) The amendment includes a change in the name of the geographical indication Marc de Champagne / Eau-de-vie de marc de Champagne which becomes Marc champenois / Eau-de-vie de marc champenois. (3) No statement of opposition under Article 17 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1143, which is applicable to the application for approval of the Union amendment in accordance with Article 90(2) of that Regulation, has been received by the Commission. (4) The application for approval of a Union amendment should therefore be approved, HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION:

Article 1

The Union amendment to the product specification published in the Official Journal of the European Union regarding the geographical indication Marc de Champagne / Eau-de-vie de marc de Champagne is hereby approved.

Article 2

This Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. This Regulation shall be binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States. Done at Brussels, 19 March 2026.
